Genealogy of the Street Bollard

The project develops a methodology for studying city objects by investigating street bollards as socio-material practices that make up the city of London. I begin with posing a series of questions: How can minor objects such as bollards provide evidence of a larger story of the city? How is the city made up of relations and associations between objects and humans? How are objects deployed in governing and as technologies for the strategic ordering of cities? How do these conceptualisations of a city object interact with how we come to ‘know’ the city? What is the relation between this method and the city we seek to know?
