Some information about me

Profile

  • My research focuses on the interface between politics and business, with the use of ideas and stories as a tool to analyse their interaction, particularly in policy making arenas.  My PhD, recently completed at the University of Manchester, uses insights from Cultural Economy and Political Science to look at the role of stories in helping giant firms to achieve their goals in different public arenas. It argues that the arrival of competing stories in these settings has turned the management of business narratives a key issue, suggesting that stories, taken as a cultural device designed to have a political and economic effect, have become a structural feature of public spheres. I currently hold a visiting fellowship awarded by ifs School of Finance for a project examining the impact of the changes triggered by the financial crisis and subsequent re-regulation of finance on the British high street and banks’ business models.

My research interests include business representation, re-regulation of financial markets, banking in the UK, policy making (particularly at EU level)
