Profile
-
Dr McCann has conducted extensive research into employment restructuring in large firms in mature OECD nations. Working mostly with qualitative interview data, his work has explored how the working lives of highly-skilled staff (especially mid-level managers) have been affected by large-scale organizational restructuring. He has recently completed a major study (with John Hassard and Jonathan Morris) on middle managers in giant multinationals based in the USA, UK and Japan, for Cambridge University Press. His current research focuses on similar issues facing skilled employees in the UK's financial services industry, especially as it relates to offshoring and outsourcing.
